New College Theses Online Database
User Guide:
New College Theses Online Database is the
comprehensive bibliographic database of New College Senior Theses published
from the charter graduating class of 1967 to the present. The database
is only accessible from on campus computers.
Quick Search
Using Quick Search, you can perform very simple searches.
Enter one or more words to find theses.
Examples:
1999 finds all
theses written in the year 1999
griffin finds
all theses authored by persons with the last name griffin
nietzsche
finds all theses titles that contain the word nietzche
elderly and
1988
finds all theses titles that contain the word elderly and were written
in 1988
Advanced Search
Using Advanced Search, you can perform simple or
complex searches. Enter a search term or phrase in one, two, three, or
all eight of the blank text boxes. You can select the boolean operators
"and", "or", or "not" from the drop down menus. You can select fields
to search from the drop down menus. Use all nonindexed fields,
to narrow your search to a specific sponsor and/or division. Note: To
narrow your search to specific divisions, enter hum, natsci or
socsci in the text box.

Examples:
Callahan and
1992
finds
all theses sponsored by Callahan and written in the year 1992.
Use the all nonindexed fields search field
to restrict your search to a specific sponsor.
Miller and
Hum
finds all theses sponsored by Miller and in the Humanities division.
Use the all nonindexed fields search field
to restrict your search to a specific division.
NatSci and
1994
finds
all theses in the Natural Sciences that were written in 1994.
Use the year search field to restrict
your search to a specifc year.
SocSci
and 1990-2000
finds all theses in the Social Sciences division
that were written between the years 1990 and
2000.
Use the year search field to restrict
your search to a specific range of years.
Hermit Crab
and Gilchrist finds
all theses titles that contain the words hermit crab and were
sponsored by Gilchrist. Use the keywords search
field to restrict your search to specific keywords
in a title.
