Policy on Use of
the Library as a Meeting Place or Classroom by Outside Institutions |
The Jane Bancroft
Cook Library’s primary mission is to serve the educational
and research needs of the students, staff and faculty of the University
of South Florida and New College of Florida. Library facilities
are limited with minimal public access computers, copiers, printers,
and group study rooms. Due to these limitations, having even small
groups attempting to use the Library as a classroom or meeting
space severely impacts the ability of a NCF or USF student to
access the Library’s resources.
For this reason,
under no circumstances may outside institutions
hold classes or meetings in the Library. Questions regarding this
policy should be referred to the Director of Information &
Access Services at (941) 487-4409, or to the Library Administrative
Office, (941) 487-4300 / 487-4401.
Any group attempting
to use the Library to conduct classes or meetings without the
permission of the Director of Information & Access Services
/ Library Dean or other appropriate authority, will be asked to
leave the building. Should the group refuse or ignore the request
to vacate the building, library staff members are authorized to
ask Campus Police to intervene.
This policy is
necessitated by abuses of the Library’s resources by proprietary
institutions and outside organizations. We are obligated to make
every effort to create a quiet study environment and provide access
to library resources to our own students and faculty. While the
library does not restrict the use of library resources to individual
non-students, it does require that library policies be observed
by all users at all times. |
