Wireless Access comes to the Jane Bancroft Cook Library!

Wireless access is available in the Cook Library. These connections are available for students, staff and faculty to connect their notebook computers to the network.

Additionally, Cook Library has eight (8) wireless-enabled laptops available for limited checkout to USF and NCF students and faculty. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.

For the purposes of security and accountability, we require that individuals utilizing the wireless network register their computer. During the registration process, you will be informed of the Acceptable Use Policies and will be requested to provide a few pieces of information. After registering, you will be able to use your PC on the network within two minutes.

This is a once-per-semester registration. Once you've registered, you won't need to register again each time you connect to the network with the same computer. However, just before the beginning of each semester, we will require that you re-register again so that we can keep our records up-to-date.

In order to register, point your browser to: https://mhb-dhcp.net.usf.edu/laptops/aup.html.

To use this resource you must:

  1. Have an IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless card installed in your computer. We recommend that you follow the installation instructions that came with your wireless card.
  2. Have a valid USF or NCF email account.
  3. Register your wireless card at http://www.net.usf.edu/laptops (Note: Access is restricted until you register your computer.)
  4. Follow the instructions for your operating system.
For additional assistance, please contact the Campus Computing Help Desk at http://www.ncf.edu/helpdesk/ or http://www.sarasota.usf.edu/helpdesk/ or call 2-4350.
